Eine Ausstellung über die Rockszene Sarajevos (1980–1992)
Die Ausstellung „Šokiraš me, majke mi!“ widmet sich der außergewöhnlichen Rockszene Sarajevos zwischen 1980 und 1992. Zwar war Sarajevo bereits in den 1960er- und 1970er-Jahren Heimat einiger der einflussreichsten Rockbands Jugoslawiens, doch in den 1980er-Jahren erlebte die Stadt eine regelrechte Explosion neuer Bands aus unterschiedlichsten Genres – von Hard Rock, Pop-Rock und Alternative Rock über Post-Punk und New Wave bis hin zu Metal. In dieser Zeit entwickelte Sarajevo eine der dynamischsten und vielfältigsten Rockszene Jugoslawiens – und ganz Europas. Die Ausstellung präsentiert die Bands und Künstler*innen, die diese goldene Ära der Sarajevoer Musik prägten.
„Šokiraš me, majke mi!“ zeigt authentische Originalexponate, die gemeinsam mit Audio- und Videoaufnahmen die reiche Rockgeschichte Sarajevos und ihr bis heute anhaltendes Vermächtnis veranschaulichen. Zu den vertretenen Bands und Künstler*innen gehören unter anderem Zabranjeno Pušenje, Crvena Jabuka, Bijelo Dugme, SCH, Divlje Jagode, Indexi, Major, Bombarder, Letu Štuke, Elvis J. Kurtović and His Meteors, Merlin, Valentino, Zdravko Čolić, Jadranka Stojaković, Amila, Bombaj Štampa, Bolero, Kongres, Plavi Orkestar, Vatreni Poljubac, Tifa Band, Formula 4, Banton Baya, Sikter, Scabia, Torpeda, Teška Industrija, Hari Mata Hari, Regina und viele weitere.
Ex-Yu Rock Centar
Das Ex-Yu Rock Centar wurde 2022 in Sarajevo eröffnet. Das Museum widmet sich den legendären Rockbands und Musiker*innen aus dem ehemaligen Jugoslawien – von den 1960er-Jahren bis heute. Die Sammlung umfasst seltene Erinnerungsstücke von Hunderten Bands und Künstler*innen, darunter originale Konzertplakate und Flyer, Audio- und Videoaufnahmen, LPs und Singles, Promo-Materialien, Instrumente, Bühnenkleidung und persönliche Gegenstände von Musiker*innen.
Das Museum verbindet eine Dauerausstellung mit wechselnden thematischen Ausstellungen, die unterschiedliche Facetten der Ex-Yu-Rockmusik beleuchten. Gleichzeitig richtet sich der Blick nach vorn: Mit Konzertreihen und Open Amp Nights dient das Museum als Plattform und Inkubator für junge und aufstrebende Bands aus Sarajevo und darüber hinaus. Das Ex-Yu Rock Centar ist damit ein Treffpunkt für Menschen aller Altersgruppen aus der Region und der ganzen Welt, verbunden durch ihre gemeinsame Leidenschaft für Rock ’n’ Roll.
Das Ex-Yu Rock Centar wird von der Ex-Yu Rock Society, einer kleinen gemeinnützigen Nichtregierungsorganisation mit Sitz in Sarajevo, betrieben. Seit November 2025 ist das Museum vorübergehend geschlossen und auf der Suche nach einem neuen Standort in Sarajevo.

The exhibition Šokiraš me, majke mi! highlights Sarajevo’s remarkable rock and roll scene from 1980 to 1992. While Sarajevo was home to some of the most influential Yugoslav rock bands of the 1960s and 1970s, the city experienced an explosion of new bands in the 1980s spanning various sub-genres including hard rock, pop-rock, alternative rock, post-punk, new wave and metal. During this period, Sarajevo had one of the most dynamic and expansive rock scenes in Yugoslavia – and in all of Europe. This exhibition showcases the rock bands and artists that comprised Sarajevo’s golden musical era.
Šokiraš me, majke mi! includes authentic, original memorabilia that, together with audio and video recordings, help to illustrate Sarajevo’s rich rock history and its enduring legacy. Featured bands/artists include Zabranjeno Pušenje, Crvena Jabuka, Bijelo Dugme, SCH, Divlje Jaogde, Indexi, Major, Bombarder, Letu Štuke, Elvis J. Ex-Yu Rock Centar
The Ex-Yu Rock Centar was opened in Sarajevo in 2022. The museum aims to present and showcase the legendary rock and roll bands from all of the former Yugoslavia from the 1960s to the present. The museum includes a large collection of rare memorabilia from hundreds of bands and artists including original concert posters and flyers, audio/video recordings, LPs and singles, promotional materials, instruments, stage clothing and other personal items from musicians. The museum combines permanent exhibitions with temporary thematic exhibitions focused on various components of Ex-Yu rock music.
Simultaneously, the museum aims to look forward and serves as an incubator for young and emerging bands from Sarajevo and beyond via its concert series and Open Amp Nights. Collectively, the Ex-Yu Rock Centar is a meeting point for people of all ages from across the region and around the world centered on a shared passion for rock and roll. The Ex-Yu Rock Centar is operated by the Ex-Yu Rock Society, a small non-profit non-governmental organization based in Sarajevo. The Ex-Yu Rock Centar is temporarily closed (as of November 2025) while seeking to relocate to a new location in Sarajevo.
